1. Intro

Yes, that's right, there was no newsletter last week due to Memorial Day weekend. Now that we're on TV's summer schedule, newsletters may not show up every week. There just isn't that much new stuff on TV to talk about.

This week, however, I have some good news. NBC just announced that they will be showing three previously unaired episodes of "Freaks and Geeks" in a mini-marathon on July 8th. The show is still cancelled, but I guess NBC figured they might as well use up the episodes they already bought. Also, MTV is thinking about pulling another "My So-Called Life" move and re-airing the one season that did air. It's not as good as having new episodes, but it's better than nothing.

ABC also premiered their new animated series, "Clerks," based on the movie. It was remarkably unfunny. It tries to pull the trick that works so well for "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" which is taking every joke just a little farther than you expect it to go, but the problem is that it takes the joke to a point where it gets stupid. I've only seen one episode, so I'll give it another try, but honestly I found it boring.

CBS premiered their new reality show, "Survivor," where there are sixteen people stranded on an island in two teams and they have competitions and occasionally vote their own team members off the island until the last person left wins a million dollars. I'm not sure I could sit down and watch an entire hour of this show without doing something else, but it makes great background watching or crowd watching. No surprise that the first person voted off the island was the elder woman who fell down during the first competition.

In TKTV news, our most popular show site has had a redesign. Dana Bonistalli, the former webmistress of the TKTV Ally McBeal site, has retired, but her content remains and her site will continue to be updated. Check out the new design and let us know what you think.

Did anyone watch The Tonys last night? I'll admit, I missed it, but my parents told me that they very much appreciated Nathan Lane's hosting over Rosie O'Donnell's. Can you believe the nerve of Rosie O'Donnell? She has actually announced that she is taking herself out of the running for any future Daytime Emmys saying that she thinks it's someone else's turn to win. Now anyone who wins in her category next year will go home thinking, "I only won because Rosie took herself out of the running." I'd like to think she's trying to be magnanimous, but it comes off as lame.

I have to say that come fall I will be very sad if another network does not pick up one of the best-written shows ever to grace a TV screen: Sports Night. I will miss Casey, Dan, Dana, Natalie, Jeremy, Isaac, and the whole crew dearly. These characters have become like family to me and I cared so much for each one of them. I have written to ABC and to NBC (in the hopes that they will pick it up and put it on Thursday nights at 9:30!). Now I guess all I can do is pray.

I don't know if anyone else caught this or not, but on the Simpsons season finale the narrator called the Simpsons "That little family from NORTHERN KENTUCKY." Now, as all Simpsons fans know, they've NEVER said what state they were located in. Quickly, my friend rebutted saying that there was no Springfield, Kentucky. Thoughts? Responses?
