1. Intro
Augh! Sweeps overload. Too many guest stars, season finales and specials! I even trimmed some of the fat from the Don't Miss section and it's still ridiculously long.
Who else thought Colby gave away the grand prize on Survivor by bringing Tina to the final two with him? I agree with what I've been reading in newsgroups though, he'll probably more than make it up in other gigs. He's already shown himself to be good-looking, athletic, and relatively intelligent, plus he's got those gleaming white teeth and that good ol' boy Texas charm working for him. He'll be fine.
I would like to beg the gods of TV to please put The X-Files out of its misery. I knew I had to give up on The Lone Gunmen when I could turn off the show in the middle of an episode and not wonder how it ended. Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel the same way about The X-Files. I still watch it out of blind loyalty, but it just doesn't hold my interest anymore. Nothing is ever absolutely resolved or revealed, so what's the point? Doggett and Reyes aren't bad additions, but they can't revive the dying show. Just let it go, please....
Meanwhile, would ABC please not put Once and Again up against NBC's powerhouse Law & Order and then complain that O&A gets lousy ratings and threaten to cancel it?
Enjoy your sweeps, and feel free to send your own comments on your favorite shows along to the newsletter or post them on one of TKTV's message boards.

2. Letters from the viewing audience
From Judy:
Am I the only who is driven crazy by sweeps? If I understand correctly, advertisers use the results of ratings gleaned during sweeps months to decide with whom to advertise, and networks set their prices based on the ratings. But during those months the regular schedules are thrown out the window and everyone puts on either 'specials' or souped up versions of their regular programming. So, what are the sweeps measuring? A network's ability to crank it up for the sweeps? They are certainly not measuring who watches their networks or shows during most of the season. It makes no sense to me and I am surprised that the results from "sweeps" are viewed as useful by anyone.
Letters from the viewing audience are always welcome. Please email any opinions, questions, comments, or random thoughts to TK at tk@tktv.net with the subject of "letters." Letters may be edited for length or content.

3. The poll
Last week's poll asked TKTV viewers which was their favorite network. I must admit, I think the results say more about who visits TKTV than viewers at large. The WB was the clear winner with over 44% of the vote. NBC struggled in second with almost 28% of the vote. Trailing in third was FOX with almost 13% of the vote. ABC beat CBS out by one vote, but they each got around 7% of the vote. UPN was the clear loser, just like it is in the ratings, with just under 2% of the vote.
This week's poll is timed for the end of the season. A number of shows are in danger of being cancelled. Which one would you most like to see saved?
As always, the TKTV weekly poll can be found right on the front page of the site.

5. TV Trivia
Last week's question was: Chad Lowe, who will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU, is married to which Oscar-winning actress? (Bonus if you can tell me which show that actress guest starred on for a year as a single mother dating one of the show regulars.)
First prize goes to Michaela M., who more than got the bonus as well. Congratulations!
Honorable mentions go to Carrie L. and Rebecca H, who both got the bonus as well.
The correct answer was Hilary Swank, who won an Oscar last year for her leading role in "Boys Don't Cry." She spent a year on Beverly Hills 90210 as a single mother who dated Steve.
Wow, I think I had more correct answers for this one than I've ever had in the past. Did anyone see Chad Lowe's appearance on Law & Order: SVU last Friday. I thought he was amazing.
This week's question is: Kathleen Turner will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Friends as one of Chandler's parents. Who plays his other parent?
Send answers to TK at tk@tktv.net with the subject of tvtrivia. Winners will be chosen at random from all the correct answers.

6. Favorite quotes of the week
From My Wife and Kids
Michael: Junior, let me teach you an important lesson in life.
Junior: What?
Michael: Know when a foot is about to be in your ass.
From Felicity
Meghan: When Felicity and first me we were not friends, we were roommates. And I didn't even like her. I thought she was just some loser, prissy, navel-gazing, self-centered, whiny, overly-introspective little freak.
